You may wonder why there is a picture of “Atlantis Found” instead of “The Kingdom”. Here is the reason, I couldn’t find a easy picture to place in the review. I’ve got a cold and I’m behind, AGAIN, and I am a man so I’m whinning, whinning, whinning. However “Atlantis Found” is the first Clive Cussler book that I read, and I was hooked. Love Dirk Pitt, The Oregon files, the Fargos and the books with the character from the the turn of the 19th century. See can’t remember them all, must be the cold. I have been reading Clive Cussler books for more than 10 years. When I find one I haven’t read I usually pick it up. I am assured of an easy action packed story that will entertain. After this long I don’t expect anything in the story line to change. This book is like that. The Fargos are a couple that have become well-known for their exploits in treasure hunting. They don’t care for the title of “treasure hunters”, but essentially that is what they are and they can live with the title. However they do not keep any of the treasure for themselves. They make sure it all goes back to the people from where it originated.
This book has the Fargos being requested to search for a friend that has gone missing. Not what they usually do, but it is a friend that has gone missing, so they want to help. They realize late that they have been played and are being used to search for a treasure for someone else. Now instead of ending the search when their friend is returned home safe, they are now ready to stop the antagonists from getting the treasure and making sure it goes to whom it belongs.
If you like stories where the good guys always win and save the day. Bad guys get what is coming to them. Clive Cussler books are the ones for you. Like I said I’ve read Cussler books for a long time. Dirk Pitt is one of my favorite hero’s. Be prepared to not have a deep thought-provoking read, just adventure and action, with beautiful people, high technology, fancy cars, and bad guys that get what they deserve.
Next up “Red Helmet” by Homer Hickam, copyright 2007. If you are not familiar with Homer Hickam, he is the author of “October Sky” or formally known as “Rocket Boys”. Hickam is a true life rocket scientist and has authored a number of books that I have enjoyed. He tells a good story. But before I go to far that is for next time.
Until then; Why does my furnace make so much noise just before it shuts off and how come the upstairs bathroom doesn’t get as warm as it used too? Hopefully I will have answers to these questions as well as a review soon.
